The natural ways to clean your jewelry

How will you clean your precious accessories without damaging them?

They are the "official companions", the plus one of a woman's appearances, since they complete the ensembles by flattering even more parts of the body.

Statement necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets can be found in every woman's dressing room and play their own role in the looks, giving intensity, imposingness and, sometimes, even more prestige.

Whether you're a lover of faux or real ones, chances are that apart from keeping them, you don't do anything else to keep them intact. However, as you've probably noticed, over time, exposure to air or water and contact with the skin, jewelry loses the dull look it had when you first bought it. If they are faux they discolor or darken and if they are real or semi-precious they dull or make lines and prints.

For this very reason, they require cleaning! Of course, each has its own way of management.

Whether you decide to take on the "maintenance" of your own, or you want to give life back to old jewelry from moms and grandmas, here's what you need to know about how to clean them.

How to clean a piece of jewelry..

If it is made of silver

In a bowl, add baking soda and water (3 parts baking soda, 1 part water) to create a paste-like mixture. Dip a cloth in the mixture and rub each side of the jewelry with it. This way it will shine again.

If it's made of nickel metal (the material most fakes are made of)

Pour equal amounts of water and vinegar into a small bowl. Dip an old cloth in the liquid and rub the jewelry with it. Then, with another cloth that you have wetted in baking soda with water, you pass the surface of your jewelry and finally, pass with a dry cloth.

If it is made of gold (or gold-plated)

On a toothbrush that you no longer use, apply a small amount of toothpaste, pour a little water and then rub the blackened spots. Rinse with water and wipe with a soft cloth.

If they are semi-precious stones

Although they rarely wear out, if you want to freshen them up, put the piece of jewelry in a bowl of warm water and dish soap and leave it for 20 minutes. Then you clean the stone with a soft toothbrush and rinse it with warm water.
